There are vacancies on the Littleton & Harestock Parish Council caused by councillor resignations.
Parish Councillors are unpaid elected (or co-opted) representatives. As a Parish Councillor you will meet new people, become part of a team, and you will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge. Most important of all, you will be helping to make a difference to our local community in Littleton and Harestock.
Parish Council Functions
The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) refers to Parish councillors as “the champions of their community who invest time in local projects and issues to the benefit of residents and the neighbourhood”.
Littleton and Harestock Parish Council maintains the Bradley Rd playground and Littleton Recreation Ground with its sports facilities, playground, and adult gym equipment. Additionally, we rent the Harestock football field from the MOD for use by local football teams and Harestock residents.
The Parish Council maintains, on behalf of Hampshire County Council, the Littleton pond, and the small wooded open space opposite the pond. We also own the Bronze Age burial site (Tumulus field) in Littleton which is under the guardianship of English Heritage.
The Parish Council review all planning applications in Littleton and Harestock and provide input to the Winchester City Council planning officers. We also work with Winchester City Council, Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire constabulary on local matters including crime and disorder, local transport, highways and many other issues.
